Easy Ways to Make Sure You do Not Get a Cold

Soaps and Hand-Sanitizers

During cold and flu season it is vital that people wash their hands with soap.  The people that you are surrounded by cough and touch things that you will also touch (pencils, door-knobs, pens, remote-controls...etc).  In result, doctors suggest that people frequently was their hands due to the numerous objects people touch a day.

In addition, hand-sanitizers (such as Purell) are also suggested during cold season. Hand-sanitizers contain alcohol which rips off the oily surface of the hand which is where bacteria and viruses reside.  

Running in the Cold

Doctors actually suggest running during cold season (usually the winter months) for short periods of time. The cold weather acts as a stressor upon the body. When stress is placed upon the body, the immune system heightens which protects a person from the cold. However, staying out in the cold too long (an hour or moren) will cause too much stress on the body. In result, a person's immune system will be lowered.

Keep a Clean Environment

Viruses have can live for 3 hours on a surface. Therefore, using an alcohol wipe (such as Lysol) to clean your environment (tables, computers, laptops...etc) reduce your risk of catching a cold.
